The loving kindness practice starts the psychospiritual flourishing. Our attention is taken off ourselves. This way loving kindness will attract loving kindness.Visualization about a wise person allow feelings of great love and tenderness to fill your heart. Turning your attention on yourself, the body sensation either pleasant or unpleasant give them your love. You want to loosen any attachment to your sensations. Visualizing that wise person suffering, I took the suffering on the inbreath and release health and joy on the outbreath. Next take this method with a group of people.
The subtle mind is the beginning of developing the inner healer. This cannot be done without taming and training the mind. The mind wanders with random thoughts. The first level of the subtle mind focuses the mind. The mind is continuously train to focus and not wander from thought to thought. As the mind becomes still, There is a witnessing of the natural rising and falling of thoughts. The level of calm-abiding our mind is undisturbed by thoughts and feelings. No longer have reactionary feelings and wisdom replaced confusion. The evening news does not raise our blood pressure. We are creating the foundation for unity consciousness. There is a deeper insight into our life. There is interconnection with all of life.
The contrast is that the individual has to develop loving kindness before developing the subtle mind. All garments of selfishness must be discarded. The subtle mind cannot develop without the discarding of self.
To truly obtain wellness, mind-body-spirit must be developed. Returning to active physical activities, it is understandable the body can not develop wellness without mind and spirit. The Loving Kindness and Subtle Mind practices showed that lack of development. As my physical health improved, I continue to have a wandering mind. The Practices showed the necessity of a focus mind.
Hi Lashun,
ReplyDeleteWhat a great and enjoyable post. It's very hard for me to stay focus and I agree we have to have a subtle mind in order to gain loving kindness.
